Personal history
Bri grew up in the Traveller's District of Mareen, the descendent of a travelling family from Ormar and the daughter of a Merinian psychiatrist. Known to be a highly emotional and intuitive person from early childhood, much of Bri's life was spent studying under her father's watchful eye. As a result, she is deeply in touch with the emotions of those around her, able to delve into the deeper reasons behind their behaviours and figure out solutions to their problems.
This led to a heavy build-up of personal emotion on her part, however, as she was never truly able to process and problem-solve with her own issues. Much of her teenage years were spent fretting over those she was close to, imagining the worst could happen to them the moment she turned her gaze from them. Her father did his best to help her through her issues and she came to rely on him as a crutch; especially as her mother could not be further from helpful.
This changed very suddenly when, in her late teens, she awoke from a nightmare to find her bedroom flooded. Her father, though at first appearing supportive of her newfound status as a Magi, grew rapidly more distant from his daughter and her problems, and one morning she heard him discussing with her mother the possibility of sending her to Mareen's Institute for Troubled Magi. Knowing that position was often permanent, Bri's nightmares and intrusive thoughts grew worse -- and one day, she woke to a great explosion. Her home was gone.
