WorldEmber 2023 in Nebula Burning | World Anvil

WorldEmber 2023

I think I have a plan here

(It's mostly using spoons to tunnel under the city to release a small being into the wild.)   For my second year of WorldEmber, we're leaving behind the vampires we worked on for Spooktober and coming back to roost firmly in the scifantasy realm. There's a still a long way to go to get the whole of the Orionis Cluster complete, so let's get crackin'!

It Gives You Focus...Makes You Stronger

(Please don't listen to the villain and give in to your anger and join the Dark Side.)   The main area I've been consistently trying to go back and focus more on and work on has always been the layout of the section of space that everything in set in: the Orionis Cluster. Of course, given that the whole cluster is made up to three sectors, nine star systems, two asteroid belt, one space station (currently), and somewhere between forty and fifty planets...we gotta start somewhere smaller than the whole Cluster.   So we're going to begin with working on finishing out the Inner System. The Orionis Cluster as a whole will be a larger goal but we're going to start with the Inner System. Also, the Inner System is the oldest occupied sector of space, so it's where everything needs to begin anyway to get 3,000 cycles of history laid down correctly.

The Note About Moons

Meta? We don't need no stinkin' meta!

(We ain't got no meta here.)

So, homework for week two is supposed to be about meta and making a mini meta but...I honestly don't understand the whole thing with meta. I don't get how to works, how its supposed to function, what its supposed to do for me. All-in-all it ends up confusing and frustrating me more than anything.   Does my world have themes? Yes. Does it have things that inspired it? Yes. Can I cleanly and concisely always say what those themes are? Not always. Do I have an idea of where I'm going? Theoretically. I know I want to tell story X, Y, and Z but how we get there through A, B, and C may change entirely as soon as we hit B.   Also, a lot of all of the worlds I've created in my life (and I've created a lot in my 37 years) don't have the clear-cut kind of info that I feel like the meta asks for. Sometimes they get rebuilt from the ground up. More often than not I'm literally just running into "oh, I don't have thing!" and then I create the thing (a Nebula Burning example was I forgot fucking moons. In a space based universe. I legitimately forgot to give planets moons, so there is a literally a note on my Remarkable that's just FUCKING MOONS in all caps.)   So, uh, yeah. Homework two is a TLDR that we don't have homework two because half the time I'm flying by the seat of my pants more often than not while worldbuilding.

Welcome all and thanks for coming

(Please listen very closely to this briefing.)   So I've been skimming the third homework on and off and trying to figure out what I could do with the beginning of my homepage, particularly my opening paragraph. Mostly because I haven't updated it since I started the world. While I was doing that earlier during a small break at work, I got hit by a thought - hey, it's a scifi universe and you already have AI written in the novel you started. Why not add a little AI who's kind of a guide to the homepage and throughout?   I ended up keeping the basis of the original paragraph but made it more of the AI talking to whoever comes to visit. I culled it into a little more basic "here's what's in the world" and may end up expanding upon it later. But for now it's "hey, we got all this and the kitchen sink, let's go explore it!".
This is Prodigy or DG and they are a friend.
