The Greatworm Desert
The Greatworm Desert is the largest desert in Daemos, stretching thousands of miles across the southwest of Daemos,. It is inhabited my many creatures including the Surash, gargantuan desert roaming worms for which it is named after and a large population of Lizardfolk adapted to the desert enviroments known as the Gilanos. The Deserts sheer size, lack of resources and difficult terrain has made it impossible for any kingdom or empire to claim and thus it mostly remains a no mans land littered with city states and tribal settlements.
The Largest City within The Greatworm Desert is known as Munmusa The Golden City, a large trade city sitting on an impressively sized landmass in the center of the Oracaium Oasis. From here it has come to become a major player within the League of Auld, with its access to exotic resources giving the city vast wealth while its position in the center of The Greatworm Desert makes it hard to attack, with the only real threat being the desert tribes raids upon fishing boats and traders.

History
It is said that long ago before the coming of magic, the area that is now The Greatworm Desert was once abundant with life and the seat of a vast orc empire that rivaled even the Elves in power until a cataclysmic event caused whatever was giving life to the vast area to dissapear as the orcish empire crumbled and was buried underneath the sands that would come to be claimed by the Surash.
It is not known when civilization began to roam the sands and claim the fertile lands around the 3 great oasi as some sources claim the slaves of the empires of old wandered the desert searching for a homeland not soon after the fall. Where as others claim many sentient species moved in much later in search of riches, fame and perhaps new starts.
There is no known record of when the Gilanos arrived first began appearing in the vast desert, with they themselves claiming to have always been there while their relation to other lizardfolk races casts doubts on this assertion. However in the time since they first developed as a distinct race within The Greatworm Desert they have split into two seperate cultures known as the Surashi Tribes and Talaran Desert Folk, each with completely different ways of life. The Surashi being nomadic scavengers with their settlements on the backs of the Surashi Greatworms from which they named their culture after. However in contrast the Talaran Desert Folk became sedentary and built their settlements around the oasi of the desert forming small tribes.
It is known that the first outsider settlement within The Greatworm Desert was Founded in the year 1846 AGD when refugees fleeing the demonic destruction from the first Absyssal Invasion reached the Oricaium Oasis and began constructing the first tents and shacks that would become Munmusa.
