Personal history

After a short intimate encounter Kreig Griscastle was born the runt son of a prideful Green Hills Goliath woman and Lefrankian Human male who was gone long before his birth, growing up he was mistreated by his full goliath siblings and peers for not being as large and showing human like traits over goliath ones. He was not taught much of his father by his mother. Other than he was a scoundrel knight of the Sons of Getorix that lied his was into her bed only to abandon her the next day and that she and Kreig had only a family crest that was left the night of his conception which the young goliath would take as a reminder of his father harbour hopes that he may one day use this as proof of his knightly heritage. His mother grew resentful of her inferior son over time yet also pitied his torment by the others so at the age of 7 she resolved to have Kreig taken by goliath traders on their route to the Lefrankian capital of Parsaile where he was dropped off at the Sons knights house in the city and told to present his family crest.   At the knight house he was rejected by all knights he asked and was eventually accused of stealing the crest, all seemed lost until Hammer of Getorix Bernard Dote, leader of the Order entered the house after a meeting with the Loui, noticed the young boy and how he had an uncanny resemblance to the Oathsworn Knight and friend Lucian Griscastle, asking to see the boy and his crest he deduced that this son resulted from the tryst between Lucian and Kreigs mother that he had been told about prior to them both being ambushed by cultists. Dote informed Kreig that his father Lucian did not survive having sacrificed himself so his brothers may escape, this disheartened Kreig until Bernard agreed to take him in as a page of the order as a favor to his friend.   Kreig Spent 4 years as a page under Bernard Dote where he served the Hammer dutifully and was educated in Lefrankian ways picking up the language quick but taking time to get used to some cultural mannerisms. He then spent 7 years as a squire under the Knight Claude Le Chance where he was taught the art of combat through the echo style and art of war through games like chess and backgammon. He would also go on quests and join many battles with his master but sadly losing Claude in battle, sad and lost he was reassigned to spend his last year as a squire under Bernard Dote and being mostly restricted to training around the castle and errands around the county.    Despite this, through his training he would learn more of the wider world around him and begin to adopt some Lefrankian mannerisms and notions of chivalry, while still retaining some mannerisms from his former childhood living amongst the goliaths. Eventually Kreig would come to learn of another side of his father from Lord Dote. While correlating with Kreigs mother that his father Guielle was a promiscuous rapscallion who had most likely fathered a dozen bastards across a dozen lands, He also informed the squire that his father had saved thousands in many brave quests for the knightly order that could have and should have gotten him killed. The Hammer of Getorix, in one instance would point to the family crest Kreig carried on his person at all times, informing him it was the coat of arms of the minor noble House Griscastle who were known as the Dukes of The Duchy of Teratine where they held great power and influence. Through sparring sessions Dote would inform Kreig of his fathers past as a young nobleman who yearned for adventure, who would eventually break free and run from his family estate renouncing all his future lands and responsibilities. Eventually his skills with a sword would be noticed by the none other but Dote himself, a young fledgling knight who would help induct Guielle into the order he would call his family. Kreig wuld be amazed by these stories, and while still holding great resentment for his fathers abandonment of his mother would see his father in a new light, hoping he can replicate his valiant deeds.   Believing that he would forever be stuck on light duties in Avern, Kreig was surprised when he was commanded by the Hammer Dote to go beyond the borders of the empire in search to procure a missing shipment of weapons from the Flanting alone. Gathering his things he set off for The City of Eversummer as the starting point of his new quest. After being escorted to Eversummer, Kreig was left on his own and left to rely on his training to navigate the large city and find leads to where the missing shipment could be. After eavesdropping on some bandits of a large stolen shipment of weapons, bearing a symbol of a blue lion had been taken in an ambush near Flanting he endeavoured to make his way there. Kreig would answer a help wanted add from a Dwarf called Gundren Rockseeker to escort some supplies to a shop within the town of Flanting with 4 people he would come to call his friends. Hugo Fairwind, Ramen Stein, Tet Treantwhisper and Yasear Dreamwalker. the 5 of them would become successful in their task but take a slight detour where they would find out from Gundrens associate Sildar, that their patron had been kidnapped when they both rode out ahead of the group. when all 6 of them made it to Flanting and finished their escort of good, the 5 adventurers would agree to help save Gundren and find the Wave Echo Cave that Sildars league was looking for.   Along the way Kreig and friends would encounter the Triton Zorvos Umolath as he was ambushed by the Redcloaks harassing the town. Zorvos would see benefit in joining the group of adventurers and so Kreig and then would carry on. Eventually finding and equipping the magical item the Chains of Returning to his greatsword Joanne. once the Redcloak operation was ended with their leaders death and prisoners release, Kreig would continue to explore the town with his new found friends. Taking quests that would lead to them exploring much of the surrounding area in their adventures and gaining great loot and riches. It would be when Kreig and his friends were investigating the Temple of Brigante near the Ruins of Wildflower Village that Kreig would start having severe headaches that would come to manifest in the summoning of a shade in the shape of a familiar figure, soon realising in the midst of a vicious ambush that he can switch place with his summoned shade at will. Kreig would come to fully realize the current extent of his awesome new powers as two of his friends layed dying on the floor of the temple. The concern and desire to protect them allowing him to reach a state of near perfect concentration, where he would use his new teleportation powers in conjunction with throwing a cracked necklace of fireballs to almost single handily wipe out the Umbralee cult sect occupying the temple and attempting to kill his new friends, Zorvos being a particular target.   Eventually Kreig would return to Flanting carrying a solid gold bell looted by him and his friends from the temple, unsure of who the shade he can summon is or where his powers came from his mind became full of questions. But despite this there was little time to think as the group including Kreig had but a few moments to buy supplies for the journey to Lightningstump.

Reading about Kreig's life made me think of yet another bastard left by his awful father, even though this first impression is false. I assume that his fathers family name and having his crest (left by him when he left) are only a memento, but I do not know the lore and laws to know that. Would he have some claim to his father's family's lands and titles?   I feel hungry for more information regarding his Goliath origin. Seven years can be a lot and make for very vivid childhood memories. If he was raised in a Goliath surrounding and talking about his father was almost taboo, did they communicate in a Goliath manner, i.e., different language, habits, and culture? This would change his perspective on the world to more Goliath-like, even though tainted with regret and resentment, maybe even distrust towards strangers. How did that way of thinking to influence his life?   So being a half-goliath, half-human, he looks like a human. Is that common, or was there some magic/hidden secret involved?
