Halflings
Origins:
The halfling race was created by Vitaria, Empire Goddess of Life and Artis, Empire God of Trade together, who wanted to make a race that appreciated life and had a positive outlook on it. As sutch they were placed to live in small villages in the forests, and while they weren't as close to Vitaria as the Firbolgs were, they still took care and valued the forests they lived in. This however made them extremely vulnerable to the horrors of the Calamity, and many villages that did not completely hide themselves away from all knowledge were consumed by the demonic hordes. This led to many halfling villages being undiscovered to this day, and unknowing of the growing empire and the defeat of the demons.
In current times: The halfling villages that were discovered all surrendered peacefully to the empire. Some of them became lumber producing, and some others were left as they were, as it was thought that they did not have anything valuable to produce that was of interest to the Empire. The halfling people are generally either kind and cheerful, or resentful and bitter, depending on what happened to their village and community when the empire took over.

Culture and Cultural Heritage
The halflings culture is often divided in two, depending on the type of village that it is. Some of them are very resentful to the empire that took their land and is cutting down their forest, while others see the empire as rightful protectors, who safeguard them from the dangers of the world.
