Walking In

"Lei CaitrĂona walked in - Kinallen, Leimund - 22"   "Norman & Lily walked in - Only each other - 4 / 12 & 1"
— Sokolan ruins grafitti
Walking In is a term used by those who spend a lot of time in The Ash, describing when a person realizes they will not be able to escape alive. For some, this means grievous wounds, for others it means a simple lack of supplies. Knowing that anyone who dies in The Ash will raise as an undead themselves, to Walk In is to forsake your own survival and walk towards the center of the country, killing as many undead as you can before perishing. If too wounded to fight any more, you bind your hands and legs, preventing you from harming anyone else.   Many upon realizing what they must do leave graffiti for future travelers, as well as their remaining supplies. Sentimental items such as letters are set aside to be delivered to their next of kin.   Taking from these supply caches is encouraged if it would help you survive in the Ash, though common custom says you should not take simply for greed's sake.     Grafitti follows the format "Name of person(s) who walked in - location of next of kin - number of undead slain & notable undead slain".
