Cybernetics
The first and most primitive form of modification, cybernetics are still in use among older souls as well as hipsters. By replacing body parts with electronic or mechanical hardware, the body can be modified for life underwater. The technology interfaces with the central nervous system, establishing a connection with its user. While most use cybernetics for their practical purposes, some, such as the aforementioned hipsters, use them as more of a fashion statement. People can have varying amounts of cybernetics, from a singular limb, to an entire robotic body called a cyborg. There is no limit to how much of the body can be modified. Full body conversions involve replacing virtually everything except the brain. Replacing too much of the body with cybernetics can be dangerous, placing incredible strain on the body. A cybernetic called the Cybernetic Compressor is used to mitigate this stress on the body.
When both body and soul can both go under the knife, anything is possible.- Dr. Salitar Fabren
