The Shadowfell
The Shadowfell is a negative plane directly preceding the Nine Hells. While the Plane is not officially a part of the collection, it shares a strong association with the Lower Planes. The Shadowfell itself is a dark reflection of the Material Plane. The Shadowfell is the real of Undeath and Sorrow, and the final resting place of souls that choose to let sorrow engulf their life, and those who bound their souls with Necromancy.
In addition to its normal dominion the Shadowfell functions as a sort of prison for powerful entities that have passed their prime. The plane creates demi planes shrouded in impenetrable mists of un-creation. These demi planes, known as domains of dread are functionally afterlife for the deceased god. Populated both by the souls that fueled it in life, and the unfortunate souls that stumbled into the domain itself.
Geography
The Shadowfell is a Dark reflection of the Material Plane. It is wrapped in a necrotic shroud that provides an aura of misery and despair. As a Everything here mirrors its corresponding location on Na'Endreth in a horrid state of decay and destruction. The realm is light with an eerie grey scale, though occasionally inverted color spectrums shine through with negative energy. Oozing gains of tar creep through the dead plane, and flakes of ash seam to glisten as they float motionless in the air.
Ecosystem
Life is not common within the Shadowfell. Undead shamble across the plane animated by the pure necrotic energy of the realm itself. Strange ooze like structures make up the planes flora, pumping the landscape with alien gasses.
Ecosystem Cycles
There appears to be no cycle of seasons in the Shadowfell. Everything persists in a dreary monoculture of repetition. Change does occur in a slow methodical way through influence, but it will remain cold and bland year round.
Localized Phenomena
A melancholic atmosphere pervades the Shadowfell. Those who dwell on the plane for too long will experience a sap of emotion and motivation. Ranging from apathy to madness those who call Shadowfell home seam stripped of emotion and life.
