The Benedict Brothers and the Cult of Erebus

The Divine Conspiracy decide to recapture Dr. Eos and eliminate the rogue Mythos Users. The next morning, the party sees on TV that presidential canidate Donald Benedict declares them terrorists in league with the Cult of Erebus and responsible for the monster attack on Maiorum High School. Their first target is clear

Amble Tower, the heads of the Divine Conspiracy bicker around a table. With the loss of their head of research and development, getting the portal started up again beyond a few small rifts releasing the monster horde would be impossible. They could never achieve their goal like that. Maren would rather march her men through the streets and hunt him down, resulting in Damian mocking her for being a brute and saying that heroes like them should leave the dirty work to the villains   Through their bickering, Alistair was pacing, thinking of what would be smart to do. It was only when Damian said those words that he had an idea, one that didn't involve exposing his secret militia.   The next morning, Julian forces the kids awake and shows them on the TV that Donald has accused them of the attack on Maiorum High and labeled them members of the Cult of Erebus. Maya seemed shocked by the name to which Alec asks why. She explains that she was familiar with the cult. Her and Taylor had many interactions but they were never full-fledged members. At the time, she thought they were just a harmless, though a bit crazy, group of people. Julian explained that Damian is the leader of the cult and both him and his brother are members of the conspiracy. Maya also asks if there are any other important members of the Conspiracy they should worry about. Julian answers that besides the ones they already know, there's Maren Boguard, a former soldier who broke off with her men to form a mercenary band after denying an order to be pulled out of the Middle East   Akane is angered that people are just believing what Donald is saying but Jayden sourly notes that it's just how things work. People in power control the truth and normal people either don't know or don't care   Chris however, sees an oppotunity. If they think they're members of the Cult, they can use that to take them out from the inside. They all wear a bunch of hoods like a bunch of generic bad guys anyway so people not recognizing them shouldn't be a concern   Whenever Alec's ready, they go straight to the church. Without question, they were each given the black robes and made to wander through the crowd. Maya expresses shock at the size of the cult since she last saw it but Chris reminds her to stay focus and listen in on conversations. Just from listening, their motive is clear. They believe that they are evil. Anyone who questions that they can be any more than that is thrown into something they call "The Void". Jayden asks what that is and one of the cultists answer by saying it's exactly what it sounds like Maya explains that isolation is a common punishment in cults like this. It's best not to ask one person too many questions. Going from person to person, they confirm a few things 1) The group believes themselves to be evil 2) While majority of their power is in New York, they have churches nation wide 3) They're planning their biggest move yet, though they don't know what it is After gathering this information, Damian finally made an appearance, appearing a dark mist on the podium. As if reassuring his people he asked what are we to which they chant "A NECESSARY EVIL". Damian grins and praises them, saying thanks to them, this stagnant world can move forward. But first, they most punish the decievers in their ranks. In a panic, the group transforms but are immediately trapped in black mist. Damian mocks them for trying to hide when he knew they were there the entire time. He gives them a chance to escape. All they have to do is tell them where Doctor Eos is. The group protests but Damian looks at Alec. He seems to be the leader of this motly crew, so what does he say? Alec can choose to stay silent, resfuse to tell him or use what little freedom of movement he has to punch him, causing him to spit blood. The crowd cheers as he declares they will be thrown into the Void. A massive black hole appears, and they're dropped in before demanding they get ready. Tonight, they march on Washington   Back with the group, they grumble as they look around, they seen nothing but darkness and mist filled the infinite space of nothing. If not for Jayden's fire, they wouldn't be able to see a thing. The name "The Void" seems fitting. Now they must escape
