Dragons

While most dragons are not even close to being gods, the truly ancient ones are at the very threshold of ascension. Those of the metallic persuasion tend to be more benevolent and peaceful, and those of the chromatic tend to lean toward the self and violent paths. Dragons also keep each other in check, and while they are generally uninterested in the affairs of mortals, there is typically a metallic counterpart for almost every powerful chromatic. The metallics do not tolerate destruction for the sake of destruction.
