Baron Jelan Podir (Je-lan Po-deer)
Baron of Tarq'eran
Born a human commoner lacking any magical talent in Ha-khet, Jelan dreamed of helping others for most of his life, but always found himself in hot water with women. Most of his adolescence was wasted chasing the fairer sex, but one day when excavating a cavern underneath the town of Tarq'eran, he stumbled upon a large lake of pure water. He also came across the ruins of an ancient temple to Ocar at the same time. He felt it was his destiny to protect the people of this town from those that would treat them unfairly and take this resource for themselves, and thus, began to defend the life-giving resource for the locals. Around this time, he began to develop a strong spiritual connection with the deity of the temple, which he and other locals began to restore and worship within, and divine powers emerged from the once mundane man. Both of these facts caught the attention of the rulers of the nearby metropolis of Ha-khet, and he was given the noble title of Baron of Tarq'eran.
Since then, he has devoted his life to bringing further prosperity to his corner of the desert, no matter the cost to himself. He frequently risks life and limb, as well as his accumulated wealth, to enrich the lives of his subjects.
