The Frost Fire Maiden Chapter 01

The lower cabin of the Flying Flounder transported many adventurers, expected to be 35 in number, all crammed in a small room smelling of sweat, and flatulence, much to the chagrin of the cabin crew and some of the less rustic passengers who took up cleaning duty. The Flying Flounder is a new generation of ship that boasts the ingenuity of Aurelion science and technology, as well as Abjuration and Evocation Magic from the Faye Marsh Wilds. Though this was little more than a reconnaissance vessel, it - like many other vessels in the vicinity of the Lagos isles - were hired out by The Island of Leith to provide the desperate people of The fishing town of Vale supplies and assistance. The last remaining settlement of The Firesong War.   The Small Vessel was deceptively large, transporting mercenaries and explorers alike, as well as food rations, weapons, armour, spell scrolls and other healing supplies. The crew were worn from little rest after their 2 week voyage from the island of Lais, but they took heart as Filli-Gulls were spotted in the distant sky, the winds blew them relative north and the waters calmed. Some passengers - in particular, those who dare not suffer the smell of the lower deck - took this time to look out over the Hull to spot exotic fish.   The Island of Leith was close at hand.   Within the lower deck, an Elven Cleric hid away in the corner, he had made claim to a bunk in the rear of the lower deck. Adamant on avoiding the sweat of the Swindlevaugn (or pig-kin) that was snoring next to him, he bunched himself up into a corner, resolving himself in prayer.   A few Tieflings were found, within the mass of bodies, the received very little suspicion. 2 of which seemed to be a couple. One Crimson and the other Maroon, each with moderately sized horns growing out 1ft in length, curling back behind their head, the other was a slender looking Tiefling, pale in complexion, hiding his short black horns with his bangs, his hair almost masking it if not for the reddish hue of his infernal appendage.   An Orchen woman looked around, uneasy and bored and a Dragonborn could be seen praying to his God, the crest of Lobuh could be found hanging from his neck.   The Elven Cleric cocked its ears, over the sounds of the waters, banter and creaking of what seemed to be Santerwood, he could hear distress coming from the deck above, he could barely make out the enigmatic Captain of the Flying Flounder, by his foots-steps and countenance he seemed to be a large man. He bellowed commands at his crew before his heavy feet could be heard hammering itself back up the planks of wood into the upper deck.   Curious, he sought out the noise, as he did so, the Dragonborn took notice and felt pushed inspired to go after him. The Cleric made his way to the main deck, the stairs leading up into a recreational area. The doors to outer deck was closed but now he could hear it. Panic, guttural noises and clashing of steel escaping barely.   He took a moment to steel himself before opening the doors.   Scaled humanoid creatures, adorned in tattered, soaked clothing were facing the crew of the ship. There were dead bodies scattered everywhere, more innocent casualties than that of the monstrosities.   Arming himself with his crossbow he took aim and from the stairs behind him came a few figures, one of which was the Orchen woman, she charged in with a large battle axe, slaying two of the hideous creatures whilst another rushed to his flank to ward off two more, it was the Dragonborn , a Paladin of the God, Lobuh.   A Tiefling almost as silent as the wind, fired bolts from his bow, Standing beside him, offering support.   The battle was hard fought. The two warriors took some damage, the Orchen Fighter bitten and scratched whilst the Dragonborn kept his shield firm, making sure to deal great damage toward his enemies as retribution for the murder of innocence. One creature, stunned by his ferocity and its impending death, fled back into the sea, only to be eaten by raging Sharks that caught wind of its blood.   In a valiant charge, the Tiefling leapt forth from the Clerics side, severing splitting a creature in two from the shoulder. The cleric, stayed back, firing bolts from his @Light_Crossbow), a creature caught a glint of the bolts arrowhead, catching it off guard, the bolt veered slightly off target, looking to graze the creatures ear. In response, the creature dodged misinterpreting the bolts trajectory as the bolt pierced through its eye, rendering it lifeless.   Their enemies now slain, they took a few seconds to compose themselves, not sure how much blood was their enemies or their own. They made quick introductions, Shel (Rachele), the Half-Orc Fighter. Unslaad, the Dragonborn Paladin. Varis Nailo, the Forest-Elf Cleric and., Sin Davola, the Tiefling Ranger .   Their introductions were cut short, as up above the, in the Upper Deck, further conflict could be heard.
