Léonie Caméléon
A keen minded and equally sharp-tongued young lady Leonie has proven herself to be a valued member of the Queen’s Musketeers.
A well-educated lady of good standing, Leonie joined the Queen's Musketeers to escape the more traditional expectations of a woman in 17th century France. Leonie greatly opposes the notion of marriage and raising a family, as she would much rather be out galivanting with her fellow Musketeers.
Adopted by Catherine de Vivonne who took pity on the young girl when her father, Gregoire Cameleon, died of a brain aneurism when she was 11. Gregoire, a renowned polymath, was hired to assist in tutoring Catherine de Vivonne’s children.
As a young girl she would spend a lot of her childhood studying under the tutelage of her father whilst spending much of her downtime playing chess, reading, and illustrating the local wildlife. After her father died, she continued her education via Catherine de Vivonne, whom by all accounts was a progressive woman of her time and an intellectual herself. Under the strict guidance of Catherine de Vivonne, a graduate of the Venus School, Leonie would learn the basics of fencing.
As Leonie continued with her education, her interests diversified. It was during her teenage years that she gained an interest in the arcane the arts, much of which she learned books recently inherited from her deceased father. Gregoire had gathered many Alchemy and herbalist books to rid himself of his aggressive headaches. During her mid teenage years, Leonie would go on to further study in the Venus Fencing School. It is here that she met her rival, Anna Boutet. Throughout their continued training together the pair would develop a bitter rivalry. Although this rivalry continues to this day, Leonie is often enamoured Anna’s beauty and is secretly in love with her.
Much of Leonie’s disdain/rivalry surrounding Anna Boutet stems from her inability to impress Anna and how she often becomes tongue tied and flustered around her. Unable to impress or beat Anna, Leonie had concluded that she would never be able to beat her due to the nature of the Venus Fencing style and therefore sought a more suitable method of fencing. She would go on to learn the Geometria Fencing style from Giulio Marcello, and with her keen mind, would excel in the fencing style.
Forever in his debt, Leonie would die to protect the Comte De Bourdain the man that brought her back from the dead. Leonie, since her childhood, had outwardly shunned magic and had blamed it for many of the world’s wrongdoings, although secretly she was intrigued by its mysteriousness. Her resurrection has somewhat changed her outlook. She now views magic as a tool, and it’s the user that determines whether it is used for justice or villainy.
Recently Leonie has revisited an interest in alchemy and has begun experimenting with alchemical weapons and oils. After her near experience with death and an unorthodox meeting with something that looked like her father, she has begun researching potential methods of reviving Gregoire Cameleon. Her research has led her towards the philosopher’s stone, and she has currently hypothesized that should two stone’s touch, they would open the infinite gate, directing the gate to a place or object that person desires the most.
Also known for her riding ability and skill with a blade she has been assigned on detached duty to the King's Musketeers to assist in their operations in the South of France. Partnered with Jean de Loungville the two have maintained the friendly rivalry between the King's and Queen's Musketeers.
