Kingdom of Mazaar

The ancient kingdom of Mazaar was founded in the second Era by the great dwarf hero Durin. He and his folk started to mine the natural caves, which were rich in minerals. Over time a giant underground kingdom was excavated stretching from the Talon mountains to the outskirts of the Dragontail mountains. At its height it was one of the greatest dwarf kingdoms to grace Mundus. The dwarven engineer Kagrenac even famously unlocked the secret of imbuing life to automatons, creating the automatons known as Golumns.   The kingdom came to an end during the war against a necromance force from Gorgorath, led by the Girger in 3E:1193. During this war the dwarves of Mazaar stood side by side with their human allies, the kingdom of Thedas. Eventually they succeeded in defeating most of the undead onslaught, but not before the Girger unleashed a terrible curse on both kingdoms, creating the Red Waste and leaving both places inhospitable.   The refugees of Mazaar started wandering the Westfork or left to their distant relatives in Orzammar. In 1389 the young dwarf prince Thorin Oakenshield approached Lord Commander Marcus Vardenfell of The Night's Watch to request aid in his quest to reclaim his homeland. In 1394 preparations had been made and a combined force of dwarfs and Watchers freed the city of Mazaar using the leftover automatons. In the following years the Curse would be lifted, slowly healing the lands encompassed by the Red Waste, both on the surface and undergound. Since then the Kingdom of Mazaar has been flourishing and rebuilding its former glory in a close alliance with the Night's Watch and their old dwarven friends, the Kingdom of Orzammar

Put your trust in stone and iron. Stone and iron have always been good to the dwarves.
