Settlement Shield
A settlement shield is a dome of energy surrounding a Droga settlement. Typically it glows white and can be partially separated at designated sections (such as the Gate at Strares) to allow people to enter and leave the settlement. The shield is strictly designed to withstand environmental forces such as snow and ice storms, as well as freak, severe weather events, although it can sustain damage from extreme cold.
Utility
The settlement shield is used by every thriving droga to protect their settlements from storms, strong winds, and severe cold.
Related Species
Are the stenza trying to develop technology where the shields won't be damaged by extreme cold or have they pushed it as far as they can? I'm glad it protects from most freak weather events, at least!
I think even if they did push it as far as they could, they'd still keep trying. They tend to look at limits more as "challenges" except where valid, long-held cultural reasons exist to do otherwise (namely most of the Frozen Wastes, and their assorted compacts with the Snow Warrior to not build beyond X point or not mine TOO much, which caused them to just move to asteroids for the most part).
