Stratim

Stratim is considered to be "the mother of all birds" in legends, though as centuries went on, it was discovered that there are more than one storm-birds in the world. Many researchers believe, that stratim is predecessor to harpy species, especially considering that quite often stratims become Matriarch to harpy tribes.

She makes amazingly beautiful sounds, and those who hear these sounds forget everything they know and want nothing more than to listen to this forever. But just as charming her voice is, her screams can cause storms. Just one movement of her wing may create a huge wave in the sea. Stratim were found on the secluded islands of Varyatan, Engear and Melusian seas, as well as on the shores of the said seas. Most often, she lays her eggs on a beach and then rolls them into the sea. When the eggs hatch, a thunderstorm sets in and the sea becomes so rough that it's nearly impossible to traverse.

Another magical ability that is attributed to Stratim, is that when she brushes dew from her wings, she grants healing powers to all fruits on the tree she is sitting on.

Appearance

Stratim in many ways have a similar look to harpies, and it's not surprising that quite often she becomes Matriarch to harpy tribes. She looks like a half-woman half-bird hybrid, with large multicoloured feathers and a woman's head, that is adorned with a crown, made out of bones and sometimes with alatrian stones, that create a beautiful halo around her head. Her eagle legs have huge, deadly sharp claws, that can easily pierce metal on contact.
