Veldt, The Dark Fields

The Veldt is as much a subject of legend and myth as it is an assymptotic force upon Moudon. It is said that the Veldt or The Dark Fields touched upon the Unclaimed Lands for but a moment before it cast a strange blight along the earth there. Now there are no gods fearing people that would try to go into that area. Even the most curious explorers cringe at the idea of going deeply into The Unclaimed Lands and the thought of going into the Veldt full of unknown creatures is almost impossible for most.   The Veldt is seen like a blanket that lies across Moudon but never truly touching the world until it did in the Unclaimed Lands. Previously there had been civilization in those lands in the form of a prosperous nation known as the Hebare. They had interest in the Veldt and the prospect of select agents being able to traverse it to add a new element to their military power. Piercing the veil of the dark fields allowed what should have been kept back to spill into the world. Being removed from the better part of the continent of Moudon proved to be a natural barrier as unnatural creatures and forces spilled across the Hebare, crushing them before any perspective help could reach them.   Little evidence reached the rest of the continent of what the Veldt had unleashed upon the Hebare but what did spoke of destuctive creatures that killed and devoured people without hesitation. Powers that disintegrated great architectural landmarks lay waste to much of the cities, towns and villages the Hebare had taken centuries to develop. What few of the survivors of the Veldtouch were blighted with dreams and scars that made them not only less than they were before but predisposed to desiring violence and carnage. Most rambled about The Hunt, the creatures that brought pain and left the very ground unable to grow even a blade of normal grass. Most of the survivors ramblings were recorded but largely disregarded as nonsense and even pandering stories to bring the eye to pulp fiction. One by one the survivors died or disappeared but their tales remained. Including some that told of the traversing the Veldt itself.
