Jake sat back, looking a bit aghast. “Taking notes of all my best strategies? Even that delicious one with the knight? That’s devious, I’m rather proud actually.”

Nathan let a small smile split his features as Jake took a pull from his own neglected tankard.

“Also, I cheat like a bitch.”

Personal history

Nathan grew up in the quiet town of Seavale, which is part of the Stell islands. His family wasn't poor, but certainly wasn't rich, and it hurt Nathan that they didn't have enough wealth to help those who truly needed it. Piracy is a fairly accepted part of life in these barren islands, and so Nathan was introduced to the idea at an early age. Once he turned seventeen, he signed on to the crew of The Lady Madeleine under Captain Jeanne Bonningham. He served for three years, gradually working up to the position of first mate, until a savage battle killed most of the crew and nearly wrecked the ship. Barely escaping with his life, Nathan had the Madeleine rebuilt, gathered another crew, and now leads them to bring wealth and goods back to the islands of Stell.
