Tella Veilshadow
Biography
Tella Veilshadow is a name whispered across faction halls, backroom deal tables, and tapped message stones—not with fear, but with calculated uncertainty. She’s a known operative in Krog Nocrum, though who she works for changes depending on who’s paying… and who’s asking. One month she might be gathering intel for the Vethsala the Molt Tongue, the next carrying encrypted correspondence between merchant envoys or uncovering militia mutterings that the Skarrix Ironscale would rather keep buried. Unlike most prominent figures in the city, Tella isn’t a native. She simply appeared one season without fanfare, took up residence in a half-rotted hovel in the less traveled part of town, and has remained—not quite belonging, but never unwelcome. Some claim she came from another plane entirely, a theory fed by her quiet refusal to speak of her past, her manner of dress, and the haunting clarity of her crimson eyes. She makes no promises, holds no loyalties, and signs no contracts. And yet, her word is rarely broken. Tella is a drow, lean and athletic, with slate-gray skin and piercing red eyes that miss nothing. A distinct white stripe cuts through the front of her otherwise black hair, which is kept cropped short and practical. Her expression rarely changes—focused, alert, unreadable. She wears a close-fitting, dark indigo combat suit layered with lightweight armor—functional, quiet, and built for movement. Her gear is matte, unadorned, and clearly modified for concealed tools and swift access to small weapons. Her boots and bracers are reinforced but silent, and she often carries throwing spikes, smoke capsules, and tools designed for infiltration. While she moves with deadly efficiency, she never flaunts her skill. If anything, she seems annoyed when a job requires her to make a mess. Tella is blunt, practical, and completely uninterested in small talk. She despises over-explaining, and has little patience for theatrics or posturing—especially among clients who overestimate their cleverness. Her jobs are clean, discreet, and completed with precision. When things go sideways, she vanishes long before the blame can find her. Though she avoids personal discussions, those who’ve worked with her long enough know she has her own sense of code. She won’t harm children or non-combatants, she never double-crosses a client mid-contract, and she always finishes what she starts. She doesn’t take pleasure in killing, but won’t hesitate when necessary. While she has no known family or confirmed origin, she seems deeply familiar with ancient drow customs and planar etiquette. When asked directly about her homeland, she often replies with a simple, “Farther than you’ve walked. Leave it at that.”
