The Babysitter's Club
In order to have Duke Hueck Greyhall forgive the party's 2000 gp debt, they agreed to take his son, Tertius, and "teach him to be a man." Tertius had a list of things that he believed he had to do, sourced from listening to his father's stories.
He joined the League of Explorers and Adventurers and learned to hone his martial prowess with the help of the party. Though, once he ditched the longsword and picked up the rapier, he became a better fighter. The party helped Tertius to see that much of his father's wishes for how he wanted Tertius to be were toxic, slowing moving Tertius' opinion away from his father's beliefs--though Tertius had never really implemented them in practice. Tertius learned and grew as a warrior over several adventures with the League.
Ultimately, he discovered his father had arranged his marriage to Princess Ireltharis Alistair when he was just a young boy was ultimately a plot to then have her mother, Queen Emeldawn Alistair, killed so that he would become king of the Kingdom of Louth. The arrangement was broken years ago, but Tertius never knew why. Uncovering this, Tertius decided that he did not want to be like his father, no longer worrying about his list or pleasing him.
