After discovering a ring on the severed hand in a hill giant's pack, Ilbryen attuned to the ring and they discovered that it contained the "soul" of Cornelius Peck, who apparently was slain by the hill giants some time before. He was rather rude and terse with Illbryen, seeming to take the whole dying as an inconvenience and demanded that Illbryen resurrect him using his severed arm, which Ileavere used gentle repose to stop its decay. Cornelius was rather annoyed at having to wait until Illbryen finished their current task before resurrecting him, but he conceded that he had no choice.
Cornelius is a worshipper of the The Allfather and a member of the Oleander Throne and promises riches to Ilbryen if they resurrect him, though he seems to believe that the Oleander position on the Isles is stronger than it seems to be. He also has refused to leave the ring, leaving Ilbryen unable to use the soul storing portion of the ring in the meantime.
He attempted to betray Ilbryen and the party when the party first met Oleander Throne soldiers. However, after the attempt failed, Cornelius left the ring, giving up his hope of being resurrected and moving on. His physical arm, which was being held at the League in the party's absence, was eaten by a kobold.
