A Real Pecker

The party finds a severed hand as part of a hill giant's loot. On the hand was a Ring of Mind Shielding. However, when Ilbryen put it on, they discovered that the ring was already "occupied" by a soul--that of Cornealius Peck, who was rude and terse, demanding that he be resurrected using his severed arm. Ilbryen agreed, but said that they would have to do it later and cast gentle repose on the hand to keep it from decaying too far.   As time went on, Peck became more and more belligerent, even stating that Ilbryen was a pagan with pagan beliefs that were "wrong", but still insisted on being resurrected.   When Oleander Throne forces invaded a wedding that Ilbryen was attending, Cornelius told Ilbryen that he would Ilbryen what to say in their language, but Ilbryen realized that he was trying to get them to say that Cornelius Peck was in the pagan's ring and to kill them and claim the ring so he could be freed.   The party defeated the Oleander forces and, realizing that he would not get resurrected by Ilbryen, Cornelius finally let his soul leave the ring to move on to the afterlife.
