Wilsira Tachnathon (a.k.a The Conceiver)
(wihl-see'-rah tach'-nah-thon), , is a Davrin mage born in the Sanctuary of Sivaraus.
Wilsira is a high-ranking Priestess of Braqth who also keeps her House name as part of her status (not all Priestesses do). The suffix -athon indicates a First Daughter who willingly passed House role to the next heir to accept a position among the Valsharess's elite. The title indicates her influence with her House remains strong even if she is no longer First Daughter intended to become Matron.
She is known for strong ritual magic, pervasive and sadistic politics, and a broad reach in connections and blackmail. She is not well-liked but highly feared and admired, depending who you ask. She enjoys displaying her deeply loyal Sathoet Son at her side, and holds an unusual influence with the Sathoet birthed by other Priestesses who may ignore their Sons more than she does.
Wilsira is in her eighth century, with noticeable blonde streaks in her hair spreading from her temples and a noticeable array of wrinkles at her eyes and mouth. She has unusual, deep maroon eyes and did not resemble her Matron Tachna much while she was alive.
Background
The persistent gossip that the First Daughter of then-First House was not in fact birthed by the Matron is probably why Tachna slipped from First to Second as soon as Wilsira left for training at the Sanctuary. This made room for Byu'Fel to rise as their own powerful mage, Roshen Byu’Felathon, in a class ahead of Wilsira, soon hurtled toward the coveted rank of High Priestess.
As the top two Houses jostled for positions between Palace and Sanctuary, no one saw the young and studious Wilsira creating a whole new title for herself, the Conceiver, unique to her and quickly rivalling the High Priestess in the public imagination.
Wilsira claimed sole credit for the creation and introduction of the Consorts, aka the Grandsons of Braqth. These specially-bred beauties could be provided as gifts of favor from the Valsharess and Braqth to the Noble Houses, their offspring increasing physical beauty and magical potential among the Nobility. It was a clear and coveted pathway to power which all but the lowest Houses instantly embraced. New worship balls were created to celebrate the gifting and regifting of these fertile males among females of power, with the Conceiver overseeing them all.
Current
Wilisira is a peer in both age and influence with the Elders of the Sisterhood, Rausery and Varessa D'Shea, and they are regularly required to interact as reviled competitors for influence with the Valsharess or coordinators for the various ceremonies, trials, and executions which require both Sisterhood and Sanctuary to take part in the balance of power within the city.
The Conceiver seems to have particular interest in Elder D'Shea, a rival mage outside the heirarchy of the Sanctuary, and those Davrin which the Sorceress makes known she is watching. The young Matron Rohenvi Thalluen, with her proven fertility and clear interest in the new Consorts, was one caught in the machinations of the Court between these two elder females. Then, D'Shea disappeared from the game at Court just long enough for Wilsira to accelerate Thalluen's status, gifting the middling House with two Consorts from the first generation to conceive Rohenvi's First and Second Daughters. The Conceiver took it for granted she would, in time, draw the Matron closer to reveal more on D'Shea, even when the Sorceress reappeared in the Sisterhood.
But, after a century of careful grooming, Rohenvi would abruptly reverse her course, leaving Court and all her ambitions unfulfilled to be another forgotten middle Matron. D'Shea's interests remained hidden, if they were ever rekindled, and this rejection was a slap in the face for Wilsira. While she had more than enough pots to stir, satisfying every need she had, the Conceiver would remember the name Thalluen, should it rise in the Court again.
