Shyntre Ja'Prohn
(shin'-tree zha'prohn), , is a Davrin Elf born in the Sanctuary, in Sivaraus.
Like most male Davrin, Shyntre is smaller than the females who define the details of his life but compensates by neither hunching his shoulders nor lowering his chin to any but the highest-ranking. His eyes are a dark crimson with flecks of gold like many of the Ja'Prohn lineage. He cuts his hair short enough to lose any curl - unusual for buas, as longer hair is preferred among caits and matrons alike.
Background
Shyntre grew up mostly inside the Palace and Sanctuary under the watchful eyes of governors and Priestesses who bore no clear relation to him. That he was the son of Headmaster Phaelous was apparent in his resemblence to his sire and oft-spoken where he could hear. He also heard that his mother was a Red Sister but was left to speculate who she might be, and whether she lived or not.
Although he had exposure to other Davrin near his age in the likewise unclaimed children and youths kept on the Third floor of the Sanctuary, he made few bonds, viewing them more as ever-shifting opportunities for bullying and betrayal. He was considered a loner by the others, especially being known as the only bua once taken to meet the Valsharess in person - a tale about which his lips have remained sealed for almost two centuries.
Although Shyntre was trained young to attend Priestesses and guests in appropriate customs, few females have cared for his dour demeanor or companionship for lengthy periods, nor have his increasing uncooperations become any better tolerated. Physical strikes and open threats did not cow him while whispered warnings surrounded him about the consequences of doing worse. A Priestess always seemed ready to take him off a Court Noble's hands before actions could escalate.
Eventually, after Shyntre's many requests had reached enough ears while a concerning natural talent for elemental magic had caused damage more than once, Shyntre was finally moved to the Wizard's Tower to be tutored directly by his sire alongside one-hundred fifty other mageborn buas of Sivaraus.
Current
As in the Sanctuary, Shyntre has made few connections with the other males of the Wizard's Tower. Although an impassioned and driven learner making full use of the resources open to him, his demeanor changed little from when he'd been surrounded by caits, Matrons, and Priestesses. Stubborn and combative became reliable traits for which the bua was known.
A few visits to the Tower from Elder Rausery rekindled the gossip of Shyntre's mother when the wizard intercepted any other as escort, making bold claims and requests of the Elder General on more than one occasion. He wanted tasks which would help the Sisterhood and give him a challenge.
Taking some interest in the wizard, Rausery would accept his challenge and find service for the determined mage, maneuvering politics enough to allow for some unique trials of his own to prove his spine to an all-female Cloister of warriors.
Whether he found what he sought in making the connection to the fourth and final ruling body of the Davrin is unknown. That he regrets some cycles far more than others is assured among Red Sisters, especially The Prime, who'd been resentful of even testing the bua as if he was a cait in the first place.
