Kerse (Sathoet Son)
(kurs), , is a Sathoet born in Sivaraus.
Kerse is a hybrid Elf-demon conceived and born to Wilsira Tachnathon in ritual to the Spider Queen. He is taller and more muscular than any natural Davrin, black-skinned and pointy-eared like his mother's race with a white mane tracing from his head down his spine to his lower back, and white patches at his groin, pits, elbows, and knees. The ears and coloring is where the Elvish similarity ends. He possesses a bestial face and snout, yellow eyes without pupils, sharp carnivorous teeth, and claws on hands and feet. His arms are like a muscular Elf, but his legs are double jointed and digitigrade. He has no tail.
Background
Kerse was born in the Sanctuary and underwent the same obedience training as his half-blood brothers. Some young Priestesses have been disgusted with her Sathoet's appearance or worn down and impatient with the lack of intelligence, ambition, or self-control. Some choose to lock her Sathoet Son away from sight in the top floor of the Sanctuary, to enjoy her added power without the constant need for discipline and the ever-reminder of where her power comes from and that, one cycle, she will lose it.
Wilsira did not choose this path, but instead has kept her son as her constant companion. The exposure to more Davrin at the heel of his mother and the frequent practice of her discipline might explain why Kerse is the eldest surviving Sathoet, and his Priestess-Mother is now the very powerful Conceiver. The two have been in service to each other for over five centuries, and Wilsira's Sathoet possesses some degree of self-restraint and self-direction from the sheer repetition in knowing his Mother's approving hand.
Current
Based on the growls and limited, sibilant vocabulary that comes only rarely, many assume Kerse's mind is stunted while his body and magical aura have become unusually powerful. Some see this as deliberate in his mother's training. However, Wilsira is not shy about suggesting him the most intelligent of the living Sathoet, which anyone can see in his keen observance and obedience to her, she says. Still, in action, she prefers him ignorant of the finer teachings of magic, and does not test beyond the instinctual while he remains very useful in her rituals, entertainments, and intrigue.
