Stulton Pyritus Character in Mythrite | World Anvil

Stulton Pyritus

Stulton Pyritus, human. Son of a renowned prospector, Pyritus Jr. broke ties with his father after a dispute over mining business negotiations. Looking to prove himself, Pyritus has taken on the challenge of making his own way in the fabled town of Mythrite where mythril "flows through the mountains like rivers of jade". His interest peaked by both the value of opportunity and the idea of upsetting his father's business Pyritus ventured on the first caravan to head into the town of Mythrite and upon arriving there in the spring he readies himself to set up his work. Pyritus seeks only to make wealth with his time, and while not a rulebreaker, he will bend and sometimes forget some if it means he can buy the best mead at the tavern. The mining business is not easy, and Pyritus knows how best to take advantage of those who take him lightly.   Pyritus is a man of fair enough complexion, hailing from an Illuskan heritage. His one striking feature comes from his eyes, a deep emerald green that fades into black at the edges. He had received them from his late mother. A once well-known Ms. Jane of Neverwinter publicly voiced that they were the only jewels worth any sum of money in the entirety of the Mountains of Copper. Something was always open and relaxing about Pyritus and those that spent time around him were always greeted by his joyous attitude and sense of humor.    Pyritus found the town surprisingly dull for all the excitement that was proposed in the rumors abroad. He supposed that he could use it to his advantage and maybe convince a search party or two to begin work on finding some of the famed metal. He heard about some noise occurring with a goblin attack and the guard corruption. A reformation of the guard would certainly halter his plans quickly as he would lose a valuable network for finding information.   Pyritus lives in the Eronia section of Mythrite, up on the hill, where he pays board at a tavern until he can make a means for income and establish himself elsewhere. After arriving at Mythrite he was given a message  from his father. Usually unwelcoming of his father's help, he spent a few nights getting to know the town like the back of his hand. He had an undesirable experience with a Mr. Mire, who disliked him scouting out the territory that he evidently claimed as his. After a quick apology and escape, Pyritus was stuck. He decided to open the envelope which contained a letter a troupe emblem. In the letter he was given a half-apology/half-scolding and told to do as he pleased. The emblem was a "relic" of the Emerald Theater from the original cast that had played there. His father had sent someone to scope out Mythrite in its early days and that token was what they had brought back with them. Sprick Grimmer would take that as compensation for a tidbit of information. Eager to being, Pyritus stepped out into the bustling boom-town.    Height: 5' 11" Bodyweight: 170lbs  Build: slightly broad shoulder, slightly above average strength

History

“One night I was having a drink with a friend and business partner of mine, Dulrik Bronzehammer. We left and parted ways at an intersection right outside the tavern. The night was foggy and eerily silent. After sometime walking alone, I felt a presence watching me. I spun around with a start, and to my surprise nothing was there. A voice spoke out behind me:     ‘So are you really here to make riches off the mithril of this town? Or are you going about another route you con-man? I recommend that you stay on one side of the other, as one of those sides isn’t as gregarious as the other.’   A hooded figure stepped passed me and clapped a small cloth into my chest. I stumbled grabbing for it as it fell to the ground. A three pronged symbol was inked onto the cloth. The next day I asked around and no one knew the symbol. However, that hooded figure was rumored to thief who was looking to increase his network and appeared only to those who threatened his business prospects. I felt better about the encounter then, if I was threatening his business, then I was doing something right.”

History

Upon arriving at Mythrite, Stulton tried to find some information, but was stopped by Halmond Mires. Deciding to choose his next step carefully, Stulton was listening for rumors in the tavern he was staying at when a message was delivered to him.   His father had sent him a letter apologizing for the dispute and wishing him well on his own. He wanted to lend a hand to his son who was making his own way in the world. Inside the envelope was a small emblem of the Emerald Theater. Stulton went there and made acquaintance with Sprick Grimmer who was pleased to meet another representative of the Pyritus Company. Back when Mythrite was on its first legs, the Senior Stulton Pyritus sent an employee to scope out the town. He was to see if there was any value into setting up another mining facility in the area. That employee apparently had attended a show at the Emerald Theater. On his return the employee brought many trinkets showing his small ventures in the town. One of those was an emblem of the theater with a green hue.   After explaining the story behind how he struck out on his own, Sprick nodded and offered what little services he could. All Stulton needed was information, and Sprick more than happy to help with a small cut of the profits. Stulton’s information network was beginning to grow, but he knew his reach could only go so far before he had to start paying up the funds.

History

Bronzehammer is Stulton's go to for selling the Mythril he finds out in the expanse of land around Mythrite. At somepoint there might be a better way to make money, but taking the raw ore and turning into viable products nets both a fair amount of income.    Bronzehammer and Stulton are on fairly goods terms, and once a week or so they spend time at a nearby tavern. There they talk about money and possible jobs. A lot of the talk is full of extra flair to boost confidence in their ability.
