Brilud Marblewing Character in Mythrite | World Anvil

Brilud Marblewing

Brilud Marblewing, a gender-fluid adult dwarf, had always lived in Baldur’s Gate. Though the Gate was economically prosperous, life there felt to Brilud like a wet woolen sock: tight, stuffy, and a bit itchy around the edges. Brilud struck out for Mythrite soon after word of Orrick Rockbreaker’s discovery leaked. In fact, Brilud was a member of one of the first successful parties to become established in Mythrite. Above all else, Brilud sought status and adventure, which were difficult to attain in the orderly, established Gate. Brilud expected that making a name in Mythrite would allow them to rise through the ranks to become one of the elite, rather than one of the masses.   Though mining was far from glamorous work, it left working-class Brilud with a steady enough income on which to live. Even though Brilud beat most of the crowds arriving in Mythrite, they hadn’t amassed much by way of savings, as mining was hard work best rewarded with a cold drink. Though the work certainly wasn’t gratifying, Brilud believed in the opportunity of the place and had come to appreciate that adventure did not have to mean always being on the move, but could instead come in the form of gathering new information and meeting new people. That’s what made Mythrite so exciting: there was a sense of new opportunity tucked around every corner.   Brilud spent their downtime in their home in Mythrilgrist, where they looked forward to unearthing the natural features of the caverns they’d come to call home. They also appreciated a good conversation with the newer residents of Mythrilgrist, particularly with newcomer Drarlun Muddigger. Brilud did not harbor Drarlun’s hatred of the Elves, but Brilud thought he might be on to something with his zealotry and idealism. Brilud did not trust Drarlun, but could sense his potential, and so kept close to him in order to attempt to secure their own advancement.
