Bizeid Mokheim Character in Mythrite | World Anvil

Bizeid Mokheim

Bizeid Mokheim hails from Waterdeep, his family barely scraping along the line of poverty. The eldest of three, Bizeid found himself shouldered with responsibilities from a very young age. He took on these tasks without objection, being a pillar for his home until he began to look for work. He signed up with the town guard, bringing in enough pay to keep his family afloat. It all came crashing down when sickness took one of his siblings and his father, the cost to see a healer was too much for them. He resigned from his post, needing to find work that paid better. He steeled himself knowing that without him his family would most likely starve. Word reached his ears about a fresh settlement, Mythrite, that promised wealth to those willing to risk the journey and work. He packed what belongings he had and headed out.   Bizeid made it out to Mythrite early on and became incorporated into the Caravan Guard due to his past work in Waterdeep. He chose the caravan guard as it paid better than the town guard, given the risks. He was one of the few who stayed on after the first few runs, many members absconding with their first sign of pay. It wasn’t long until he reached the position of captain, the caravan guard always desperate for anyone with some form of experience. He continued to send a portion of his pay back home, not able to climb the class ladder of Mythrite much in his early times there. He soon received news that what family he had left in Waterdeep also passed away or left without much word, leaving him on his own. With nowhere else to go he remained in Mythrite, not having much more than his job. Bizeid never calls Mythrite his home, but he has no plans to go anywhere else.   Nowadays he still serves as a caravan guard captain. He finds with each passing day he spends more energy trying to find new recruits to fill spots than actually running caravans to and from the town. He has seen so many new faces come and go that he has become numb to the profession. Those that do stick around he becomes friendly with, others who share the unease of ferrying the caravans through the wilderness. He gathers more warm bodies to protect the caravans, not caring much for who he hires as long as they can do the job. Keeping track of names takes too much energy and time as guards come and go at a rapid pace. The work is tiring, endless, and sometimes crushing. Bizeid never offers up a sour comment or a bitter complaint about it to anyone though. He does the job given to him, better than most of his compatriots. Some nights, when the guards go out to one of the local bars, he will let slip that he doesn’t particularly care for the work but doesn’t know what to do with himself if he were to be without it.   Author - Timothy Carter
