Sir Varndin Asperan
Sir Varndin Asperan holds the
Manor of Chewintin and the nearby hamlet of
Keldkith.
His liege Lord is the constable of
Jendes for the
Earl of Kiban
Sir Varndin, the eldest living son of
Sir Tolon Vardin, is a skilled knight, trained in the sword, lance, and warhorse.
As a young man, he dreamt of joining the Fighting Order of the
Lady of Paladins and was well into training when he was forced to take over his father’s manor when he was killed during a
Pagaelin raid. He bears considerable hatred for these barbarians and would dearly like to lead or join any pacification campaigns.
Sir Varndin has proven stern but fair leader. He takes his responsibilities seriously and expects others to do likewise. He strongly supports those who show loyalty and work hard and those with talent or ability are promoted.
He has a soft spot for his rather large extended family and his much-loved hunting falcons.
Physical Description
Sir Varndin is fit and strong. A excellent example of a Knight.
Has a short neatly trimmed beard.
Skilled knight. Good rider as well as with the lance and sword.
Has a good quality warhorse, weapons and armor.
Also has a pair of superbly trained hunting falcons.
Mental characteristics
Born one of the many sons, both legitimate and illegitimate of Lord Tolon Asperan.
Varndin was a squire with the Knights of the Order of the Lady of Paladins, and it was his dream to complete his training and join that organization. However, in 706 a Pagaelin Tribe attacked Chewintin killing a dozen villages as well as his elder brother and father who died bravely saving a number of children from slavery.
Varndin at age 14 was recalled from his training and made a Ward of the Constable of Jendes, trained in leadership and a few years later Knighted and installed as the Lord of Chewintin and the Hamlet of Keldkith.
Squire to the Fighting Order of the Lady of Paladins and ward of the Constable of Jendes.
Can read and write. Has a good collection of military textbooks, but show little interest in other topics.
Father and brother were killed by Pagealin. He has a deep hatred for these poison using, violent, drug-addicted barbarians.

He has a deep seated hatred for the Pagealin Barbarians and one day hope to join or start a crusade to eliminate this menace. He is disturbed by reports they may well be becoming more organized.

Has a large extended family, mostly due to father
Tolon Asperan and grandfather being disgraceful womanizers. Sir Varndin has a good relationship with all of his kin in Chewintin offering them jobs or assistance.

Worships
Larani and is a devoted. Lives the Larani virtues of Honor, Chivalry, Duty. Not strong on forgiveness however.
Has much respect for the
Church of Peoni, partly because it fits in with his world view of working hard, social hierarchy and duty.
Good inspirational leader.
He loves the family pastime of Falconry. Has a pair of much pampered hunting birds.
Sir Vardin is independently wealthy.
Runs a well-managed fiefdom, however, excess funds are invested into security such as funding additional men of arms, scouting and improving fortification.
