Head of the Orc Inn Building / Landmark in Misty Isle of Harn | World Anvil
A boisterous fortified Inn renowned for its grizzly decorations, tared orc heads lining the walls and hanging from the ceiling. Every summer, this Inn hosts the Great Orc Hunt.

History

The Inn is built on the ruins of a fortified watchtower, last used around 650TR except for a brief occupation in 702TR by resistance forces during the Jarinese Rebellion. Under the tower is the residue of dwarven crafted stonework indicating the site's ancient origin.

In the spring of 705 Rothaar, the bear, Stylin a Ivinian Mercenary purchased the ruins (although some say he only occupied it). He repaired much of the tower as possible and erected a wooden wall and large hall, turning it into a sizable but rough Inn, initially called the Black Spear Mead Hall.

On his opening week, several merchants were ambushed by orcs around a mile from the Inn's walls. The enraged Rothaar proclaimed henceforth that whoever presented an Orcs Head would be rewarded with a free drink. The Inn's guests included several hardy caravan guards and mercenaries who immediately hunted down and dispatched the Orcs returning with their heads.

Taken with the idea, he renamed the mead hall the Head of the Orc Inn and created the Great Orc Hunt competition . This tradition has grown and has become very popular with rough warriors and Orc haters of all types.

Location

Found along Noron's way (an overland Road between Kaldor and the eastern Clanholds of Orbaal), commanding on a rocky spire surrounded by and overlooking the marshland around the Anoth Delta. In theory, the lands fall under the domain of Clan Haidaar but act as an independent settlement, paying only token taxes.

Staff

Innkeeper - Rothaar, the bear, Stylin. A huge man, almost 6 ½ ft tall with short sandy hair, showing signs of greying. He is energetic and friendly but not above dealing with trouble with his fists.

Brewer Thalal Storkaad. A mercenary companion of Rothaar and fine brewer. He likes to experiment and has some knowledge of alchemy.

Rogon and Tofard Stylin. Rothaar's twin sons look like younger versions of their fathers. Bouncers and Inn guards. The Inn has 11 other staff, wives, and children of the Stylin and Storkaad families.
