Ordus

Known as the Black Wall by much of the population of the world. Many of those within the dark obsidian walls call their home the City of Tears when certain the many eyes and ears of the Inquisition will not get wind of its use.   Ordus is the capitol of the Church of Order , and the only city actually founded by the Church. It's imposing high black walls serve not simply to protect the city from external threats, but to keep the population within corralled and isolated from any potential outside influences. The ability for a resident of the city to even travel outside the walls indicates a level of trust and authority that the common folk can never hope to attain. For anyone else, attempting to leave the city, and being caught, will subject them to severe sanctions.

Government

Unlike most city-states and the Republic, there is no distinction within the Church between local and national governance. The Church governs all, at every level. From the highest offices of the High Cardinal, to the tax collector who extorts heavy coin from the citizenry and serfs, these men and women all work directly for the ecclesiarchy.

Defences

Ordus' primary defenses are two fold. The most imposing, and well known are the fifty-foot obsidian walls the encircle the city. Much like the The Silver Spire, these walls have no visible seams, aside from thousands of loop-holes archers and marksmen can fire from with relative impunity. Four gates, equally spaced around the walls, are the only entry and exit points. The gates are made of the same, black stone and, when closed, almost vanish into the surface.   The second arm of Ordus' defense lies in the Faceless. Serving both as an offensive and defensive force, the Faceless is feared by any whom have been unfortunate enough to face them in battle. The Faceless serve not simply as the military arm of the Church, but also work hand-in-hand with the Inquisition, often serving as an internal police force.

Infrastructure

Unlike many major cities, Ordus is not built on a coast, the shore of a lake, or near a river. It is instead situated directly between the Grey Peak and World Spin mountain ranges. Exiles whom have escape the city have told of a massive underground river that serve as the primary source of fresh water for the city.   To provide food, state-owned farms are scattered around the city for many miles. These orchards, ranches and fields are under heavy guard, not so much to protect the actual crops and livestock, but to ensure the obedience of the serfs and slaves who are forced to work them.
