History
Gold has been used in the making of coinage and jewelry since the settling of the free peoples of Mirydain. Men are known to mine for it, but the Dwarves are considered connoisseurs of metals because they make livings from mining in the mountains for treasures.
Discovery
The Dwarves discovered gold in the mountains north of the Aurminjid, which eventually became the chief mine for the treasures which they mine for.

Gold makes up a majority of the jewelry worn by royalty and nobility from each of the free peoples of Mirydain expect the Centaurs.
