Basic Information

Anatomy

by ArtisticArmoury
Ivierae possess a third eye on their forehead. Not only does it enhance their vision, but it also grants greater magical abilities.   The third eye is connected to a gland that secretes magical energy. With this gland, their third eye can act as a wand essentially. When in use, their eye (iris and pupil specifically) will glow a bright blue. Older members who originated from Hell also have this gland, but it was much smaller and only capable of performing that special ability unique to the individual.   Because of the bright light shining through, it is possible for them to go blind later in life if used excessively and without treatment.   Damage to the eye, such as blindness, tear in the iris, etc.. can weaken the elf's abilities.

Genetics and Reproduction

Ivierae are born with two sets of genitalia. What they have varies, but generally a female will have at least one vagina, and a male will have at least one penis, and a minale with have both a penis and vagina. Both sets are fully functional.

Growth Rate & Stages

Ivierae can on average live up to 7,000 years, but are thought to be ageless due to the several exceptions of elves over 50,000 years old. Adolescence starts at 910 years, and adult hood at 1,260. Unlike most other species, ivierae never fully stop growing. In adolescence they get a growth spurt, but the older they get the slower they grow. For example, Cassius is about 11 feet tall, and over 20,000 years old. They also age slower after reaching adulthood. Using Cassius again, his body looks like a 30 year old's body (although his face doesn't reflect that because he has a condition).

Ecology and Habitats

Ivierae are extremely adaptable and don't technically have an optimal environment, however because they originate from Hell, they’re most associated with hot climates. Older ivierae like to stick to what they're used to, which of course are hotter climates.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ivierae are inherently omnivores, but they generally have no problems adapting to a herbivore or carnivore diet if need be.   One example would be that villages in Fzalder lean towards herbivore diets as meat is hard to come by, as villages rich in meat aren't interested in bartering, and are too impoverished to buy meat. Another example would be a specific town in Jyalb, where the ivierae there have adapted to eating only meat as their neighbouring town would gift them with their surplus cattle constantly.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Ivierae tend to treat others as if they were their own family. They obviously have the common sense to be wary of strangers in general, but they’re generally very friendly and quick to help out others in need. Kids are taught at a young age how to keep an eye out for those with malicious intentions.

Facial characteristics

Ivierae tend to have big noses, and are usually hooked, bumpy, fleshy, snub, or up-turned.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Most can be found in Fzalder as it’s their safest home and important to their history. They can also be found in Symilf because many of them were kept as slaves. In smaller populations they can be found in East Jyalb, Maefyzer, Shiza, Nirilf, Nuiri, and West Jyalb in order from higher population to smaller.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sight Since Ivierae are born with a third eye, their eyesight on average is better than that of an average elf.   Magic With their magic gland, they innately preform well in various magical feats. Their strong suit is spell casting, and can use their third eye as a wand.   All ivierae are born with a power. What that is is usually dictated by their personality, or their fate. An example of this would be the Demon Embassy worker Garbone Benoist. He has the power to control people's minds, which reflects on his fate of him being controlled by his grandfather and a previously close friend. Another example is the merchant Aldmae Frur. He suffers from severe anxiety, and is overall distrustful of others. His power helps him calm down and think rationally. Bloodlines tend to have a theme with their power. Like the Benoists for example, tend to have abilities based on mental manipulation or plant manipulation, or the Emvulds who tend to possess artistic based powers.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

When ivierae are born, they're given a middle name by their birther.   The ivierae will choose themself a first name after their Rites of Passage song, if they're deemed ready to move on to adulthood. A few elves tend to just name themself the New Tongue version of their Old Tongue middle name. An example of this would be Garbone Benoist, whose middle name is Tekalkahoednt (pronounced Tek-ahl-ka-hoo-dent).

Major Organizations

The Yati Fae Guild is a very popular organisation made by ivierae, for the protection of ivierae and other oppressed groups. There’s a multitude of different chapters all over the world.

Beauty Ideals

Many ivierae consider more demon-like features, or non traditional elven features to be the ideal standard. Muscular, tanned or more gray skin, strong noses, and especially horns.

Gender Ideals

Many of them conflate sex and gender, and because they have two sets of genitals, recognise four different genders in mainstream society. There's man (with two penises), woman (with two vaginas), mina (one penis and one vagina, but presents more masculine), and minil (one penis and one vagina, but presents more feminine).

Relationship Ideals

It's considered ideal for many ivierae to be polygamous, or okay with open relationships.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Ivierae majorly speak Old Tongue and New Tongue (a version of Old Tongue simplified by younger generations). Many also speak Silmfeian since most slave owners speak it as a native language.

Common Dress Code

There isn't much of a dress code, just that adult ivierae are expected to wear their cae (a hoodless, poncho-like garment).

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

They preform the Rites of Passage, a tradition that marks adulthood.

Common Taboos

To some, being asexual is considered taboo, especially as ivierae have a very low birthing rate.

History

Ivierae were created by a demon named Erebos. The earliest families lived in Hell, up until Lady Merthicz generously gifted it it's own planet to home the ivierae in, as they were subject to attacks by nearby clans, partially for looking too much like overworldly beings, but mainly because they thought it was heresy that a demon wanted to “play god”. The treatment of them got better as time went on and became more widely known.   When Erebos was gifted the planet, three of the seven major families immigrated there (the rest hadn't because they felt it was more important to fight for their home). Those families were the Benoist's (first ever created bloodline), Angalt's, and Emvuld's.   When the Great Human-Ivierae War came around, the Benoists took charge in the war, teaming up with the Angalt and Emvuld family as they were already great friends unlike the new families. In general, the Benoist family would make the strategy plan, Emvulds would create any possible armour and weapons, and the Angalt family would charge into battle.   By the end of the war, the side supporting the ivierae suggested a stalemate, to which the enemy side agreed to, but on some terms. One of those being that the captured ivierae prisoners could be kept as slaves. The enemy side did also agree that those living in Fzalder would be free from possible enslavement, unless they broke the law.   To this day, ivierae hardly have any rights. Although there are protections to keep them from being abused, unfairly killed, or even protect the sanctity of a part of their culture, they're still unable to hold jobs high up in the social ladder, like a knight, ambassador, or nobleman in the King's court, for example. The only possible exception to this rule is if there are none outside the ivierae race in Fzalder willing to take up those position.

Historical Figures

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Humans: They don't get along with humans very well because their god Fyayn enforces racism as part of their religion. This led to them declaring war on ivierae the minute they stepped foot on Mirthae, enslaving many of them afterwards, confining them to one continent, and maintaining a very Conservative noble court to exclude them. They're much more friendly to certain races of humans, but overall they don't trust them.   High elves: They don't view high elves very favourably either because they sided with the humans during the Great Human-Ivierae War, and also largely participates in ivierae slavery. Tensions are starting to die down between the two generally, the younger elves are becoming more progressive quickly and even starting to view slavery as taboo.   Wood elves: Ivierae tend to be great allies with the wood elves because they were the strongest supporters during and after the war, in the quest for ivierae to gain equality. Although humans aren't a fan of them they do let them into their courts, so it's easier to spread support.   Dragons: Ivierae are mixed on dragons, as they DID help humans during the war, and kept some ivierae as indentured servants early on, but they're becoming more progressive with each new generation.   Mermaids: They're very fond of mermaids as they helped behind the scenes with medical aid, supplies, and strategies. It’s pretty common to see Yati Fae team up with various mermaid covens, especially for the purpose of caring for others.   Satyr: They’re probably the most fond of satyr, as they were one of the few groups to almost entirely band together to aid the ivierae on the battlefield.   Dark elves: They love having the company of dark elves, and more often than not will help them when they become the targets of oppression. Although many ivierae support and worship Lady Merthicz, they generally believe dark elves aren’t evil.   Moon elves: They find the moon elves to be rather intriguing, as they’re much more homogeneous than other races. They don’t like that they treat dark elves with distain, but do try to be friendly with them- especially as they’re afraid of their extraordinary powers.   Demons: It's a hot debate on whether or not ivierae are demons, but regardless- ivierae have always historically gotten along with most demon races. Although they're considered one of the more peaceful races, in Hell they do fit in well with many mainstream traditions and cultures.   Vampires: One race of demon that tends to not get along well with ivierae, although mainly with the Impinski race. Cassius and Czono Vladimir are always butting heads. Despite that history, many other races do get along well with ivierae. Many even like to team up for a mutually beneficial relationship.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
All ivierae have distinct magical tattoos that appear when using magic from their gland rather than an external source. Older generations of ivierae have a mole under their chin that the tattoo stems and expands from. Younger generations often don’t have this mole, though even when they do the tattoos will still expand from their third eye.   The only constants with this marking is that it only shows when magic is in effect, it moves to create the distinct designs or retreat where it stems from, it’s all the same hue (though can glow as the eye colour of the ivierae), and the specific marking that appears depends on who the magic is affecting. An example for the last point is with Lord Cassius, who has the ability to brainwash people. When his power is in effect, actively changing a person to his whim, his own marking will appear on the person he’s casting the enchantment on.   A little known fact about the area the mole exists in, it’s right over a pressure point that when pinched will automatically cause an ivierae to activate/deactivate their power.   Outside of the tattoos, it’s not really common for older ivierae to have other markings. Younger generations though are starting to gain animalistic patterns and markings. One example is Aislin Angalt, who has purple deer markings all over her body.
