Ubelan Waters

Overview

The Ubelan Waters is the umbrella name for the five seas of Mirsivna, which were divided between the god Ubel's five daughters, Temisri, Qualora, Eishta, Gwiella, and Shomori.   The waters were first made by Ubel before the beginning of Mirsivna, but came to be known as the single ocean of the place when Amengta formed The Edge of the World, and rose land, and separated Mirsivna's sky from its sea.

General Background

The Ubelan Waters were first formed by Ubel in the deep Yenin Trench of Orvzen's Cotempah Ocean. These waters were set apart from the surrounding water, as they glowed blue, and were fresh water in a sea of poisonous high salt.   In the beginning, they were very amorphous, and uncontained. But when Amengta came into being from Mirsip, she formed The Edge of the World, which was a spherical shell, which encompassed the Ubelan waters. With the help of her brother, Thew, Amengta separated the sea from the sky, and then later raised land thereby creating Mirsivna's landmass and the single great ocean that encompassed it.   It was also from the waters of this great ocean that Amengta later raised Shellora, who was the first of the Nodai, and was made as a hopeful love for Ubel. It was Shellora, however, who at first gave the sea its disposition, making the waves come and go according to her mood and whims. Because of her, the ocean became as free of a spirit as she.   The Ubelan Waters were later divided between the daughters of Shellora and Ubel himself. Ubel, however, remained in rule of all of his daughters, along with Shellora to ensure that they did not incur the wrath of his sister Amengta.

The Temisrian Sea

Temisri was the eldest, and her portion of the sea rested in the northeast, around the Great Mountain. As such, this region became known as the Temisrian Sea.   As Temisri herself is very compassionate, level-headed, and dedicated to safe-journeys and the facts of any given situation, her region of the ocean often is calm and safe and even if it's a stormy sky, the waters are usually calm. However, if Temisri is angered or presented with the wrong facts, Temisri's ocean can be a nightmare, as she will be dedicated to fulfilling whatever goal she has set forth.

The Qualoran Sea

Qualora was the second eldest of Shellora and Ubel's children. The region of the Ubelan Sea, which became hers lies to the west of The Temisrian Sea, and is aptly called The Qualoran Sea.   The Qualoran Sea is usually calm, but unlike the Temisrian Sea, offers the potential for growth through visions and challenges presented by the ocean itself. Those that pass through the Qualoran Sea generally come out of it spiritually healed or enlightened with visions for a bright and better future.   Because of this, the Qualoran Sea is one of the safest to venture into. However, if one angers the demigoddess, she will react strongly, and the typically healing experience will turn into a veritable nightmare, if not a dangerous experience in and of itself.

The Eishtan Sea

Eishta was the third daughter of Ubel and Shellora. Her division of sea lies to the southwest of Qualora's. Her sea is more unpredictable than those of her elder sisters, as she responds to a need she notices in a given environmet. Eishta is more solitary than not and is the least likely to bring on divine judgment, but this being said, traversing the Eishtan Sea may still be dangerous as Eishta may not always notice the mortals in her midst, and might only think of them and their safety after solving a given problem.

The Gwiellan Sea

Gwiella was the second youngest of Ubel and Shellora's daughters. Her domain, the Gwiellan Sea, rests to the east of Eishta's.   Gwiella, however, is nowhere near as level-headed or well thought out as her sisters, and because of this, her divison of the Ubelan Waters reflects that. Her ocean is utterly unpredictable, often seeking to invoke emotional experiences in those who traverse it, along with experiences and happenings that are far different from the predictable nature of the other seas. Because of this, there may be visions that are inspiring, terrifying, or enlightening. There may also be waves that pull one under and drown them, or waves that carry them to great heights and safety. Gwiella is not beyond inflicting grief upon others for the novel experience.

The Shomorian Sea

Shomori was the youngest of Ubel and Shellora's daughters. Her domain, the Shomorian Sea sits directly between The Gwiellan Sea and The Temisrian Sea.   Like Shomori herself, her sea could be thought to have a quick-witted sense of humor in a way, that may predominantly be seen through the life in that particularly ocean– as seen throught the Winged Fish, which lives exclusively under water in Shomori's ocean despite having large feathery wings.   Aside from the humor of the region, the waters are calm, but it's best to be on the demigoddess's good side, or the water itself will plot against one in the long term. It can be difficult to notice this, as it's long term planning and often isn't obvious until it's far too late.   This sea loves nothing more than bringing order to its region and Mirsivna, so when traversing it, it is best to have the good graces of Shomori herself.
