Memoria Transfer Machine

Utility

Back in the Sol System, Memoria machines were used to transfer minds of human beings into a Databank, officially renaming the consciousnesses “Dataminds.” The machines used in the Sol System stayed there until the very last waves of Neo Terran ships left, in which the machines were moved. Afterwards, in the Alpha Avior System, they were again reinstalled into the Rebirthing Centers.   The larger version of the Memoria Transfer Machines were only forcefully used in dire, extreme, or unchangeable circumstances when an inmate or correctional guest couldn’t—or wouldn’t—change their stance on a certain subject. Or, when a new Datamind was Reborn, and they couldn’t handle the realities of their new Shells or the long years ahead of them.   The larger machine is precise enough to target and erase certain memories from the Datamind, but the smaller, more compact and weaponized versions were created as weapons and thus do much more damage. Depending on the strength setting of these smaller devices, only a few random memories could be lost, perhaps even temporarily as each Neo Terran has a backup of memories stored in their programming.   When used on a fully organic being like a Genet, however, it’s unknown what exactly happens, as Neo Terran, Cyborg, and Genet brains are different. Some Genets and Cyborgs have been hit with the device and have never woken up, still remaining in a coma in various special wings of hospitals. Cyborgs have a higher chance of waking up after being hit with one of these weaponized Memorias.

Manufacturing

Like much of the life-giving tech in the New Terran Societies, the Memoria Transfer Machine can only be created in Mergha’s factory city, Stem. Unlike other technology, however, all pieces are manufactured in Stem, using large machines and furnaces to melt the larger pieces into shape, and smaller, more delicate machinery to work on the wiring.

Access & Availability
The large versions were permanently set up, needing entire rooms all to themselves. One set of Memoria were delivered to the Rebirthing Centers in Mergha and the other set was sent to the Long Waite Correctional Hub. Knowledge about the Memoria Transfer process wasn't kept quite secret, but only subdued.   However, during the Shattering--an event which destroyed thousands of stored Dataminds--the original blueprints, being worked on in the Rebirthing Centers on Mergha, were copied, stolen. Since then, smaller versions have been created in secret, traded on the black market in the Slums district of Diadem and out in the Surro Aster Cluster to True Terran forces.   Because of this, any further developments on this tech have been closely guarded for decades, now viewed and used only by Rebirthers on Mergha waking up new Dataminds, and in the Long Waite Correctional Hub. Where before, you only had to have the relative amount of training and science ability involved in maintaining and using the machine, now you had to undergo additional military training in order to protect it.
Discovery
Back in the Sol System, the blueprints were created based on Evelyn Byrn’s own technology on the Mars facility, Romal, by David Maina, where he and his team built the first official prototypes. Then the first Alpha builds that were put onto the ships to travel out to the Alpha Avior System with Neo Terran Minds and Shells in tow.
