Verodan

Verodan were the old god of war in the Starlighters Pantheon not much is known about him as worship of him fell out of fashion after the emergence of Mara and her claiming the domain of warfare. When Verodan was still worshipped, he was revered for not just the war but also the calculated strategies and his domain encompassed protection, strategy and the will to fight for what one believed in.
The tales that survive tell about a god with a towering figure that was clad in armour from top to bottom all covered in runes, it's said that his mere presence on a battlefield could grant strength and wisdom to those around him.
Followers back in the day would honour Verodan through grand festivals held in his name, celebrating both military triumphs and the resilience in defending the realm against external threats.

No one is quite sure when precisely the worship of Verodan began to fade but some scholars who specialise in the religion of the Dercian people believe that due to other deities becoming stronger in other pantheons and winning wars against followers who believed in him, the worship slowly began to fade, the final nail in the coffin came when what was at this point still a small and unimportant people in a small city-state called Pearlhal somehow managed to manifest another deity, Mara who began to absorb the domains of Verodan until he faded away and were forgotten like many of the older deities who for one reason or another fades away.
