Wesbron River War

The ongoing war between the Rugalla Dynasty and the Iron Confederacy over control of the Wesbron River.

The Conflict

Prelude

The Iron Confederacy, in an effort to secure shipping rights and supremacy on the western coast of Autria, issued an ultimatum to the Rugalla Dynasty for complete and unfettered access to the salt water port of Lasthaven. Rugalla refused and subsequently tightened its borders with the Confederacy.

Historical Significance

In 1423, the Iron Confederacy invaded the Rugalla Dynasty along three axes in an attempt to seize control of the Wesbron River Valley. After several weeks of uninterrupted advances, the dwarven forces were halted at the Battle of the Five Hills near the town of Redwell. In an effort to consolidate their gains and prepare for a longer war than anticipated, the dwarves began to dig in and shore up their defenses and supply lines. 
Since then, the war has dragged on for nearly five years, creating a refugee crisis inside the Rugalla Dynasty as well as the neighboring Tuvocan Empire.
