Shadows in the Harbor Session 21
General Summary
Well That Escalated Quickly
One of the South Wind men headed north to find help. Damakos stood behind a nearby tree and prepared an ambush. As soon as the man stepped into the light Damakos let a bolt fly from his crossbow. It missed and the South Wind guard pulled out his own crossbow and fired back. It also missed, so he closed the gap and drew his mace. He swung wildly at Damakos, drawing blood from his jaw. As soon as he did so a fiery blast of hellish rebuke shot forth, instantly killing the man. Damakos could hear the door of the headquarters slam shut and he hid in a nearby bush to prepare another ambush. Matilde Carson stormed out of the South Wind Trading Company's headquarters and headed north. She was looking for help in dealing with this fire before it got out of hand. She walked by the dead body of the guard and the color drained from her body. She had never seen a dead body. Damakos watched intently, searching for any sign of danger. He saw none. Matilde ran off, frightened. Meanwhile, Keck stealthily followed some of the other South Wind men as they began a bucket brigade to ferry water to the burning warehouse. They had begun to grow suspicious and had sent out others to search for intruders. But Keck remained hidden. Six of the men had entered the warehouse to try to recover whatever they could. Keck barred them in the building in an effort to prevent them from rescuing whatever goods they had in there. Their objective complete, the party retired to the relative safety of the Aggressive Goblin tavern. We've Got Some Time to Kill
Before resting for the night, they gathered in Tim the Not-so-Tiny's room to examine the shipping manifest he took from the warehouse. They spent some time digging through it; lots of records of shipments on this or that date from Castleport to some other town or city. There were mentions of various cargo, who sent it, received it, etc. Pages and pages of this. However, every so often they would find what looked like a small flower drawn next to a city name. Some of these included Embermire, the capitol, Arrowport, Oakenshire, Middlerich, Fairshield, Kilbourne, and others. Keck and the others deduced that the flower represented interests or shipments belonging to The Society of the Silk Rose. The party clearly had their work cut out for them. But first things first: they were going to put a stop to the South Wind's operations in Castleport one way or another. The following morning, Fel'Shu headed out into the market to find some apples. He came back with some rumors, however. He reported that a party of hunters had gone missing in the nearby Laronto Woods and, unrelated, an adventuring party had taken a treasure from an ogre west of the city in a forest. That corroborated Fel'Shu's own encounter with an ogre ambush. The group decided to investigate the Laronto Woods and hopefully find the hunters...Rewards Granted
