Sergeant Dersk joined the Castleport Regional Defence Force as soon as he was old enough. He attended the basic training at the Castleport keep and was soon assigned to Beachdenn. At the age of 24, he was named the acting Sergeant of Arms after his predecessor was killed by pirates. He was formally assigned that position and title after a year and has remained in the job ever since.

Sergeant Dersk is driven to perform his duty. He seeks to make his father in Castleport proud of him. Growing up, his father would tell him stories of his time in the army and how his grandfather had fought the dwarves of Grim Knurl in The War of the Mountain.
