Slephus Prime
Slephus Prime is a habitable ocean world, notable for being the homeworld of the Orbisur and the capital of Orbis Customer Synergies. The planet is the third satellite of the Slephus System, and has one orbiting moon of its own. Oceans cover approximately 91% of the planet, with the remaining surface comprised of polar ice caps and archipelagos. Slephus Prime's archipelagos tend to be arranged in long "chains" separated by massive expanses of open water, effectively creating small "continents" out of collections of island chains.
Inclement weather, earthquakes, and volcanic activity on many islands have not dissuaded large-scale urban development. Buildings are built in one of two ways: either to withstand natural disasters, or to be quickly reconstructed after they are destroyed. The advent of seismic stabilisation and weather control technologies in the early 23rd century CE allowed for a rapid urban expansion, and many of the land-based cities on Slephus Prime are post-FTL developments. In order to maximise land usage, settlements often extend partially into the sea (either supported over water or on reclaimed land), or are constructed entirely on stilts in coastal regions. Due to dwindling land availability resulting from the post-stabilisation boom, contemporary construction is almost entirely floating or submerged cities.
While most of the population lives in densely-populated urban agglomerations, the planet also has some smaller agriculture and mining operations. Agriculture is typically conducted through a mixture of trawling and hydroponic operations, though some land has been set aside for land-based agriculture. This is particutlarly expensive, but allows wealthy Orbisur to grow a variety of luxury or offworld food products. Mining is also conducted on both land and in the oceans, though most minerals and related products are imported from the colonies.
Due to the planet's picturesque nature (and extensive advertising campaigns), it has become a popular travel destination for interstellar tourists. Several islands across the planet (in varied climates) have been set aside by OCS as resorts, preserving the natural environment and providing amenities specifically for offworlders. Although interstellar tourism is not particularly widespread (owing to the travel times involved), these resorts have also become a de facto embassy for OCS executives to meet with foreign diplomats and dignitaries.
The headquarters of OCS is located on Slephus Prime, with the primary executive office being a massive 225-storey skyscraper located in the heart of the planet's largest city. The roof of the OCS headquarters is occupied by a penthouse that is home to the Chief Incentivizer, their office, a repulsorcraft landing pad, and numerous private amenities. Chief Incentivizers also have numerous private estates located elsewhere on the planet, typically around resort regions.
