Olinbar

Olinbars are a species of sapient bipedal humanoids that originated on the now-relic world of Minamar. Having experienced thousands of years of background radation on their bombarded homeworld, Olinbars have undergone rapid selection for traits that make them capable of thriving on tomb worlds. In particular, their DNA and cells are resistant to radiation-induced mutations. Additionally, internal Olinbari organs are exceptionally efficient at filtering out pollution from water and the atmosphere. While these traits make Olinbars fully capable of surviving on even the most desolate tomb worlds, they are also fully capable of living on a variety of other planet types. However, based on their physiology, it appears that Olinbars originally evolved on a continental world - as Minamar is believed to be before it was encased in urban sprawl.

Physically, Olinbars are considered very average for a sapient species in the galaxy. They display strength and mobility akin to Humans, a species to which they are often compared. Where Olinbars differ from other species is mentally. Olinbars particularly enjoy collective social settings and are capable of maintaining large social networks with ease. Their ability to remember complex webs of relationships and preference for communication means they have developed a reputation as a particularly charismatic species throughout the galaxy. This ability to remember complex social hierarchies comes from an enlarged brain, which has the other effect of making the species more generally intelligent than average.

Despite their perceived charisma, Olinbars are also regarded as a particularly enigmatic species. This is partially due to social guidelines set forth by Minamar Specialized Industries, but also a natural inclination towards 'guarded friendliness'. In private, however, Olinbars are very genial and outgoing with their closest social circles. Conspicuous spending and consumption, while also encouraged by MSI, appears to be an innate part of Olinbar psychology. Overt displays of wealth and success are primary signifiers of social status, so Olinbars of all social classes attempt to outwardly show their wealth.
