Khun Burim

In the heart of the towering Birchstar Mountains lies Khun Burim, the majestic dwarven capital, a city that sprawls gracefully within a vast, verdant valley. Framed by three colossal peaks, Khun Burim stands as a testament to dwarven ambition, artistry, and engineering prowess. The city’s strategic location between the mountains offers natural protection, while its elaborate design reflects centuries of rich history, masterwork architectural planning and cultural heritage.   Inside the stone bulwark, Khun Burim unfolds in a breathtaking panorama of stonework and artistry. The city is organized in concentric rings, with each ring representing a different aspect of dwarven society. At the very center of Khun Burim at the heart of the city stands the grand citidel of Khambuldohr. This imposing fortress is carved directly out of a central giant rock and towers above the surrounding cityscape. The citadel’s grand halls and chambers are adorned with gold, mithril, and gemstones, reflecting the immense wealth and power of the dwarven kingdom.

Defences

Encircling Khun Burim is an immense, formidable wall of stone and iron, standing as the first line of defense and a symbol of the city’s strength. This outer wall, known as the Stone Bulwark, is punctuated by majestic watchtowers and massive gates adorned with intricate carvings depicting epic battles and legendary heroes. The main gate, called the King’s Gate, is a marvel of engineering, forged from the finest steel and embellished with precious gems that glint in the sunlight.

Districts

The city is organized in five different circular layers stacked upon the other starting with the citidel and noble district along with some of the more prestigious locales, businesses and guilds. Surrounding the citadel is the Noble’s District, where the city’s elite reside in grandiose stone manors, each a masterpiece of architecture and design. This district is also home to the Great Library, an enormous repository of dwarven knowledge and lore, and the Temple of the Stonefather, the spiritual center where the dwarves worship Torag. The outermost layer of the top disc is uncharactistically agricultural, making use of the only source of sunlight in the city.   The next circle, known as the Artisan’s Quarter, is bustling with life and industry. Here, skilled craftsmen and women ply their trades, filling the air with the sounds of hammers, chisels, and the vibrant chatter of merchants and customers. A huge variety of armor, goods, tools, and weapons can be found and purchased here with even the cheapest items still being of decent quality.   The next ring, the Warrior’s District, houses the barracks, training grounds, and additional forges where the garrison’s renowned weapons and armor are crafted. Statues of past heroes and banners of current champions line the streets, instilling a sense of pride and duty in all who walk here.   Below the Warrior's District lies the main residential sector of the city. This marvel of urban planning provides housing for the vast majority of the population of the city. Spanning from ornate family homes to towering dormitories to simplistic single dwarf dwellings. A large marketplace stands at the heart of this district serving as a distribution center for a myriad of household goods and food items.   The bottom layer of the city resembles that of the city slums. The poorest citizens reside here as well as the majority of the non-dwarven population. The roads mix debris from the entrances of the numerous mines as well as the bottom of the canals that the upper layers use as a convienent refuse and sewer disposal. Crime and destitution is a common theme and rumors of a well-connected black market make their way to the surface now and again.
