Quranis describes herself as an antiquarian, others might find “treasure hunter” easier to pronounce. She was lucky enough to have sufficient inherited wealth to pursue her passion for unearthing history. Those who probe too deeply into the past, however, can uncover far more than they expected…
The Doom Croaker
When the Rat Pack was promptly kicked out of the Mage's Guild, Quranis was waiting. She told them that she required adventurers with a spelljammer willing to go and fight some deadly monsters so she could retrieve The Doom Croaker--a grapefruit-sized diamond that comes with a curse. The party was eager to accept her money and agreed to the job. After fighting off two lindwurms, the Rat Pack retrieved the Doom Croaker. They handled the supposedly cursed gem carefully and handed it over to her without delay. She happily accepted it and paid them for a job well done. As they traveled, she let it slip that she worked for someone called Zagar .Stolen
While Quranis was sleeping, a thief working for Garrin Ashcopse and the The Red Masks broke into her room and stole the diamond from her safe. Not knowing who was responsible, Quranis became desperate to find it, fearing what her patron would do to her.She returned to the Rat Pack, looking for their help to find it, but they were not happy to see her. Sensing they were blowing her off, she realized she was alone in finding the gemstone. To further complicate things, her patron had a new quest for her on Collier that demanded her immediate attention.
She hired a master thief named Crucelia to retrieve the diamond. She was able to steal it back from Garrin Ashcopse and get it back to Quranis. Quranis then handed the Doom Croaker over to Zagar's associate, Master Carvedous.
Zagar's Plans
Fearing her involvement in something potentially nefarious, Quranis once again hired Crucelia. This time she wanted the thief to infiltrate Master Carvedous' base on Toril and discover what they are plotting. While the thief did this, Quranis returned to Bral and found the Rat Pack. She asked them to go and meet with Crucelia and retrieve whatever information she had acquired to turn it over to the Imperial Fleet.
