The newly settled humans begin to send explorers on wider and wider ranges to explore and map their newfound homeland.

In 1019, human wanderers begin to trickle out of the primary colony to explore the nearby areas and bring news of neighbours both friendly and hostile to their people. Their first discovery was of the colossal stone bridge spanning the distance between the south western coast of the region and a small but verdant island known as the Brightgreen Isle. The humans dubbed the bridge 'the Azure Crossing' and after overcoming their initial awe, made their way across the bridge to the island beyond. The inhabitants of the Brightgreen isle were the elves, the first instance of the long lived people that the humans had come across in this region. After peaceful greetings the explorers returned to the primary colony with news of potential friends.   By 1280, most of the region that the Kingdom of Illargos encompasses had been discovered and well travelled.   Between 1335 and 1373, enterprising humans began to push up the northeastern side of the Highpeak Range seeking to establish new colonies and expand the kingdom further. They are met with friction by the Dwarven clans Steelkeg and Stronghammer who grew increasingly frustrated that humans would attempt to colonise land that wasn't theirs and saw the colonisers as an invading force.   By 1376, The dwarves had had enough of the human incursions and began removing humans by force, hunting down small settlements and burning them down causing refugees to flood back south to Arborside. Later that year war was declared by the humans in response to the harsh treatment of their people.
