A reclusive races of gnomes exclusive to The Underdark, sverfneblin are well adapted to their life underground, they can see exceptionally well in the dark, have lean and wiry muscles from mining, and have the ability to camouflage themselves in and among cave features like stalagmites and boulders. Guarded, and suspicious of outsiders, sverfneblin try their best to live out a solitary life among their own people, but their diminutive stature makes them good targets for the slave-races of The Underdark to hunt for and snatch wayward sverfneblin to work in their own colonies. It is for this reason that the sverfneblin were the first to agree to an alliance with the The Windpeak Rangers; the rangers were to provide protection and the sverneblin would serve as guides and scouts for the rangers. While jaded towards those they dont know, sverfneblin are kind-hearted, loyal and even compassionate toward their friends, and they have come to almost revere The Windpeak Rangers for their efforts to make The Underdark a safer place to live.

age: Gnomes mature at the same rate as humans, and most are expected to settle into adult life around the age of 40. They can live to 350 years on average, but it's not too uncommon for them to reach 500 years of age
alignment: Unlike the other deep races, sverfneblin can be just as good as their surface cousins, but their oppressive environment tends to dampen their humour and enthusiasm, they therefore tend towards neutral alignments with those in charge leaning towards a lawful alingment and the commonfolk leaning towards a chaotic alignment

  • Darkvision. Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

  • Superior Darkvision. Your darkvision has a radius of 120 feet.
  • Stone Camouflage. You have advantage on Dexterity (stealth) checks to hide in rocky terrain.
Sverfneblin are grey coloured gnomes with flesh that resembles stone in appearance but feels more like hardened leather, their skin is usually a grey, brown or dun hues which helps them camouflage themselves among the features of the caves they live in against predators. They have surprisingly well muscled bodies and they are heavier than their small size would lead most races to believe at first glance. Male sverfneblin are bald but are able to grow forked beards similar to other gnome varieties, females grow long hair which they prefer to tie up to keep it out of their eyes while they work. Sverfneblin hair is always a stark white colour and they have grey eyes, they like to wear practical clothing suited to their work which is made out of the hides of the creatures of The Underdark that they can capture.
