House of the Blackened Dagger
The House of the Blackened Dagger is the newest of the great families. It was originally a house of herbalists and healers, but became powerful through their study of the Tarpit, especially their creation of the sewer sludge. Although a sizable contingent of the family still work in more traditional fields, the driving force within the family has shifted towards inorganic alchemical research. Within the last generation, they re-registered their house to reflect their new focus. The house as a whole has a reputation for producing brilliant, eccentric, completely untraditional members.
