Briar was once from the Dark Thicket, an old forest that was stripped by King Deverick of Mordgate. After killing him, they went on a rampage, killing several royalty who did not respect the wild. They then helped to cultivate the Ushra, a nomadic group who lived off the land. When he was turned into a New God, he continued to watch over them.
