Nerovae

God of the oceans

Nerovae is an enigmatic figure. They are said to seldom answer prayers, yet it is believed that by leaving coin and food offerings at the portside altars that you will have a safe journey.

Storms and squalls come and go as fast as you can tie up or unfurl your sails. A coin thrown overboard may sink to the bottom like a piece of lead or bob on the surface like a child's toy.

The best advice anyone can give for appeasing Nerovae is that they seem to like genuine sacrifice. If you have little care for money, then Nerovae will not be enticed by the sack of coins on their altar. But leave a scarf given to you by a lover that you may never see again, well, that'll get their attention.

Relationships

Nerovae has no relationships with the rest of the pantheon. They are set apart, immutable and inscrutable, even by the other gods. Doloros can sometimes find and/or communicate with them, but this is extremely rare and leads to annoyance and suspicion from the other deities as to who they are, what their agenda is, or where they came from.

Again, Doloros might have the answers as the oldest of the gods, but if she knows, she's not telling.

Physical Description

Body Features

Most gods are interpreted by the artists who depict them as the most common race in the given region - or as the same race as the artist themselves. Not so with Nerovae, who's always portrayed as a water genasi with semi-translucent skin and a frothing waterfall of hair down their spine, ending just above the small of their back.

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

Nerovae, unlike Doloros, does not have a fluid gender expression. They are always apart from the binary.

Commonalities & Shared Interests

To only be the god of storms and hurricanes when Nerovae controls the entire sea drives Iros-est crazy. It makes him even more upset and angry that Nerovae could not care less what he thinks.   Indeed, Nerovae, if you were to ask them about Iros-est, would only give a mild, "oh, yes, he does exist, doesn't he?" For if Nerovae does not want one of Iros-est's storms to trouble their oceans, all they have to do is raise their hand and quell it. And Iros-est will never stop seething over that.
