Each Marquisate is governed by its Marquis, whom hold a monthly council between themselves and their in Tresanne, the most central of the Marquisate capitals.
Marquisats are further divided into duchies, the ducs owing direct allegiance to their marquis.

The marque and the ducal are the two main units of money previously used in the Marquisate, one marque being worth 100 ducals. Since their annexation into the Empire, the Marquisates have slowly started to make the transition to standard Virathian currency, though exchange fees are still very generous and ducs and marques are still commonly used.
