Asmodeus

In the depths of The Nine Hells, at the realm of Nessus, the overlord of the Devils, Asmodeus, holds his court. Greatest of the Archdevils, and the patron of oppression and power, Asmodeus... has surprisingly varied positions in different religious sect around Melyria.

It is true that for some Asmodeus simply is the evil incarnate, he can also be depicted as a punisher of sinners, keeper of order, balancing force in the world and even a protector of sorts. Tempter, tester, collector of the darkest of souls - Asmodeus is the one making the most cunning of contracts with the mortals he torments.

Physical Description

Body Features

The most common description of Asmodeus, is one of the most quintessential devil; Red skinned, horned humanoid, with cloven hooves and red or yellow eyes. He is described as charming and elegant, with the most pleasant of voices and his words wrap around you like a warm blanket and his words taste of honey.

He is seen as this slim, well dressed male humanoid and he often has a beard though underneath his robes he is sometimes described to be covered in injuries and scars he seems uneffected by. He is sometimes also depicted with both serpentain tail and tongue.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

According to some legends, Asmodeus was once a celestial angel, that descented to lower planes to defeat the scourge that is the demonkind. However, so doin he was either corrupted or he himself plotted a seperation between him and the deities, so he could have an army and realm of his own, which he would stel from the gods for his own gain.

This not the only origin story given to this entity, though, but one of the many. Some say he was a failed god thjat lost his way

Intellectual Characteristics

Lord of The Nine Hells is very well known of his charisma and intellect, always able to stay ten steps ahead of anyone that desires to defy him. Despite being described to be the lord of lies, he takes rules and laws quite seriously - but it would be very hard to break any rules, bend then or use them to your advantage, if the rules and laws are not present. Like great hunter Asmodeus enjoyis his mind games, and rules are excellent way to add some challenge to your game.

Deceit comes naturally for him, yet Asmodeus that the best lies do not go too far from the truth, and uses all the possible loopholes to make his arguments most convincing and to dodge anything coming to his way.

His enjoyment of order also comes from the knowledge that to keep that order there often is someone on the top to enact it, which of course, should always be and if he decides, always will be him and just him. He is not afraid to bow his head a bit for the celestial deities if there is more power toi be gained this way.
